Chase enters the vacation rental game, but only for select cardholders

Whether you are traveling with a large group or want a spacious kitchen where you can cook for your family, there are many reasons to choose a vacation rental on a traditional hotel room. As of this week, Chase cardholders have a new reason to stay in vacation rentals: the ability to earn or cash out Chase Chase Ultimate Rewards points through the holiday home program through ChaseTravel℠.
Currently, only cardholders with free or ink business cards can access the holiday home plan, but Chase is expanding the plan to include Chase SapphireReserve® card holders starting in July.
Here’s what you need to know about this new travel plan.

Chase Holiday Home Plan Details
For those who already have access to the holiday home option, Chase Travel now offers the ability to choose from thousands of cottages, villas, cottages, beach houses, apartments and apartments in destinations around the world. When you log in to chase the trip and select a qualified card, you should see the option to search for “Hotel” or “Vacation Home”.
For testing purposes, we searched for vacation rentals in Boston in early August. For each search result we see multiple images of the property, rental type (apartment, etc.), how many guests it can accommodate, the nightly cash price, and the total price of cash and Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
You will also see a map view in the search results, which you can use to narrow your search to a specific part of the town, or to better understand where the properties you are viewing are located. There are options to filter your search results to view accommodation with certain amenities such as the internet, fitness facilities, on-site parking and more.
Who is eligible to book a Chase holiday home?
Currently, only featured cardholders will see the holiday home option when logging in to Chase Travel. This includes those with the following cards:

If you have Chase Sapphire Reserve, remember that the redemption value of booking through Chase Travel will change soon, and there will be some other refresh allowances (and higher annual fees).
How much money can you make?
Free and ink cardholders can earn final reward points for using the holiday home as they booked for a flight or hotel. For free cardholders, this means 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel. If you have one of the Chase ink business cards, your income rate (if any) will vary depending on your card.
When Chase Sapphire reserves incorporate personal and business cards in July, these cards will earn 8 points on Chase Travel purchases. For the Chase Sapphire reserve card, this is a 2-point drop per dollar down from previous revenue rates, but Chase hopes some other new allowances on that card will appeal to you.
Bottom line
Now Chase is about to enter the vacation rental business, where travelers can book apartments, apartments, beachfront homes and other accommodation types through Chase Travel Portal and earn points when doing so.
