Hilton Amex Business Card Benefits

Hilton Amex Business offers a variety of benefits and allowances every year. Admission is required to obtain selected benefits; terms and conditions apply.

  • Declaration credits up to $240 per calendar year: Eligible Hilton purchases per quarter can earn up to $60. Qualified purchases include room reservations at the Hilton Hotel and occasional expenses such as dinner or spa treatments.
  • Free National Car Rental Elite Identity: Card members are awarded the status of executives at the National Car Rental Jade Club. Benefits include guaranteed upgrades, access to the execution area car and no second driver fee.
  • Free Hilton Honor Gold Elite Status: With a golden identity, you will receive 80% of the Hilton bonus, the fifth night of the award redemption, the elite level grade night, free breakfast or food and drink credit, room upgrades (if any), and more.
  • Upgrade to diamond status: You can reach Diamond Elite status after the next calendar year that costs $40,000 in one calendar year. Diamond status has more benefits, such as better upgrades (available), performing lounge access, 48-hour room guarantee, and more – although if you want this status, it’s better to apply for the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, which offers Diamond status as a built-in PERK.
  • Travel protection: Baggage Insurance*, Grade 2 Car Rental Loss and Loss Insurance**, Access to the Global Auxiliary Hotline # and Extended Warranty* and Purchase Protection* benefits are available to card members.
  • Expense management tools: As a business card member, you will have access to tools such as QuickBooks Integration, Bill.com payments, and more.

Although this is not a great set of benefits, their annual fees are acceptable. That said, if you are staying at least a few times a year, this card will be hard to justify annual payments.

If you expect every calendar year (up to $60 per quarter) to be able to take full advantage of the Hilton Statement Credit that can reach up to $240, then I recommend considering another hotel business card.

Other cards offer better value, such as American Express® Commercial Gold Card or Ink BusinessPreferred® Credit Card (see Prices and Fees).

Since AMEX membership rewards allow you to transfer points to Hilton, Amex Business Gold may be a great addition or alternative to Hilton’s Amex business card.

Redemption points on Hilton Amex business card

Like most hotel loyalty programs, the best value comes from using your point of view on hotel bookings.

There are a number of ways you can redeem Hilton Honors Points. Hotel redemption offers the best value, while discounts on Hilton events, Hilton Honors experiences and Amazon purchases are less valuable.

Although there is no public reward list for Hilton Honors, the Explorer tool can show you the reward price range for the next 30 days. This can help you know what you expect when considering where your point of view is used.

TPG contributor Matt Moffitt loves to redeem his Hilton Honors Index to book three- and four-star hotels abroad. These attributes tend to have higher redemption value than the United States

His goal is to book a five-night stay, as he only needs to pay four, thanks to his elite status as a Hilton co-signed card.

Transfer points using Hilton Amex Business Card

Hilton offers a well-known choice for transfer partners of several airlines, including RAF, British Airways, Delta Air Lines and Manchester United.

Hilton points are usually transferred at a poor speed; for example, when transferring to Manchester United, you only earn 1,000 miles of mileage in exchange for 10,000 Hilton Honors Points.

Given the poor value of this redemption option, I do not recommend using your Hilton points for airline transfers. Even if you need to go beyond the airline’s reward balance, there may be a better, more value-conscious approach.

Which cards compete with Hilton Amex business cards?

The Hilton Amex business card is Hilton’s only business card. However, it faces solid competition from other common hotel cards and standard business cards.

Bottom line

You may be reluctant to pay your credit card annual fee, or wonder if the $195 annual fee for Hilton Amex business card is worth it. Consider how much value you will get from the card’s automatic Hilton Gold status, as this may be the deciding factor for whether the card is right for you.

The Hilton Amex business card has advantages for business travelers who often stay at the Hilton hotel. However, others should choose another hotel card or business card.
