Openai lost 4 main researchers to Meta

Four Openai researchers Two sources confirmed that WIRED will leave the company to head for Meta.

Shengjia Zhao, Shuchao Bi, Jiahui Yu and Hongyu Ren joined Meta’s super smart team. Their Openai slack profile has been disabled. This information first reports the departure event.

This is the latest in a series of radical moves by Mark Zuckerberg, who is running for openai, Anthropic and Google to build artificial universal intelligence. Earlier this month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said Meta has been offering “huge discounts” to Openai employees with “$100 million signing bonus.” “None of our best people decided to get a hold of it,” he added. An OpenAI source confirmed the offer.

Hongyu Ren is the post-training leader in Openai’s O3 and O4 Mini models, as well as an open source model to be released this summer, sources said. After training, it is the process of improving the model after training the model in the main dataset.

Another source said Shengjia Zhao was very skilled in deep learning research. He joined OpenAI in the summer of 2022 and helped build the startup’s GPT-4 model.

Jiahui Yu worked at Google Deepmind before joining Openai at the end of 2023. ShuchaoBi is the multimodal manager of OpenAI.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the departure incident was separated from Openai after the company lost three researchers from its Zurich office.

Openai and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
