Artist Spotlight: Nina Molloy

A selection of recent works by artist Nina Molloy. Born in Bangkok, Molloy is currently located in London, and is excerpted from photographic and printed materials related to Thai and British heritage. Compositions are created through repeated behaviors of translation (the work to be printed, textile to painting), examining how home materials such as curtains and sheets evoke memories and transformations. Her use of soft colors and impressionist layers shows that memory fades and instability:
“I drew on where and what I wanted to see, experience and get into clearly. Once implemented, I could carry my body and new things with me. They reminded me that I formed the world I saw and was affected by that world, and the way I saw it changed.”
