Disneyland’s popular attraction will close early next year, paving the way for the “Avatar” expansion

Disney California Adventure Park has been going through several iterations since its opening in 2001. The park is mostly a land and attractions paying tribute to Golden State, but since then, based on the years since, more experience has been added based on Disney Films.

But every exciting new member often also means losing your beloved ride (or riding). Twilight Horror Tower replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakthrough in 2017, Bug Land in 2018 makes room for the Avengers campus in 2021, to name just a few.

Next on the chopping block is the fan favorite attraction on Hollywood Land: Monsters Company. Mike & Sulley go to rescue!

This slow dark ride actually replaces a cult classic attraction called Superstar Limo. We don’t have time to take a full limousine history lesson here, but it’s only common that a few animated characters from the original ride were repurposed for Retheme. This includes Disney breathing new life into Drew Carey Animatronic by throwing him into the uniform of the “Child Detection Agency”. If this is enough to get your interest, I highly recommend that you spend some time studying the history of superstars.

But I’m off topic. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley go to rescue! Lead riders through Monstropolis’ Madcap taxi, which featured several popular characters and sets “Monsters, Inc.” to show up. Movie. The trip was popular for kids and adults, but as Mike said in the original Monster Company. Movie, “Life is more than just scary.”

Disney announced Thursday night, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley go to rescue! It will be permanently closed in early 2026, so work can begin in the park’s next transformation. Disney shared that part of the current Hollywood background area will be a new “Avatar destination” in Disney’s California adventure, and the “monster, company” appeal will be close to “making room for this new experience.”

Disneyland provided Disneyland with an “incarnation experience” for Disneyland in early 2023, further expanding guests’ expectations at last year’s Disney experience showcase: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Concept art since then portrays a slow moving ship inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and future “Avatar” movies.

But even in Thursday’s blog post, Disney calls it a “apture destination” rather than appealing, the new concept art suggests that it seems to be a performance experience similar to a water tour, inspired by Moana at Disney World. In short, we still don’t know much about it What Guests will be able to experience this new area.
