“Mario Kart World” developers break their own domination

Conkdor, similar to an ostrich The enemy who debuted Super Mario 3D Worldyou shouldn’t be able to drive. First of all, this is a bird. Secondly, it has no hands. But in Mario Karting Worldlike everyone else, Conkdor can ride bikes, cars and magic carpets with Mario.
The newly discovered ability of dozens of new characters competing in the game is the first game in the series and requires developers to rethink how to use the playable character changes.
“I have to say that in the former Mario Kart champions, we had to think about whether the character could drive,” producer Yabuki told Wired in an interview with the translator. “My old way of thinking was that they certainly needed hands and feet to drive.”
As the Switch 2 launch title, Mario Karting World Heralds the next generation of series and does it with a large number of playable racers. At least 50 characters have been confirmed so far, and many variations of these characters exist as the costume changes. Yabuki said that when deciding on the cast of the game, the team must first consider whether the player wants new characters and, more importantly, whether to use them. Nintendo wants players to be surprised by the people they can play, but that’s not all: “If you go to a game, see that character with you,” Yabuki said.
This may explain most of the new actors in the game, including several characters lacking feet, hands, or both. Yabuki mentions the series’ iconic, grumpy enemy Goomba or Pokey, a cactus character made from stacked Spikey Ball: “Okay, of course you can drive,” Yabuki says.
“I may not even explain how they travel exactly in this case, but as long as we’re surprised and happy people, I think that’s the important part.” The game’s awesome characters have been hit hard by the players since she revealed. Yabuki hopes other new characters will be popular too.
“I’m sure we’ll see a lot of players who choose to play as cows or penguins, but it’s still a Mario Kart game. I hope everyone remembers everyone can play Peaches and Mario, too,” Yabuki said.
Mario Karting WorldNow, its game can accommodate up to 24 players, so a huge cast is required. The latest switch version of the game, Mario Kart 8only 12 players are allowed per round. Yabuki said the team decided early on to double the number of racers in the race. “We know that with a vast world that connects and covers all these different routes, we need a large number of simultaneously players to bring a dense and interesting feeling to that big space,” he said.
This requires some extra balance. The game against 24 players can be quickly off track. “If we adjust nothing, you get too many attacks, which is too stressful to the gaming experience,” Yabuki said. The same is true for crashes or spins, so when the player loses speed, they vary according to the event. “Of course, we have to consider the element of chaos, too,” Yabuki said. “Sometimes, the free experience for everyone is also a very interesting experience.”
