Fan favorite Amazon was brought back to the quarterly category for the second quarter, as well as streaming services (for the first time in three years).
Now through June 30, cardholders can receive rewards on Amazon and select streaming services as well as internet, cable and telephone services. These categories are alive, so activate them as soon as possible to ensure you get rewards.
You can earn 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) in consolidated expenses up to $1,500 in these categories (backer 1% or 1 point per dollar). Need to be activated.

Chasing Freedom Q2 2025 Category
Chase will offer internet, cable and telephone services this month as reward birthday surprise categories, just to celebrate the 15-year-old Free Card series. You can expect birthday surprise categories in September and December. (March categories are tax preparation and insurance.)
From now until June 30, Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex Cardembers can receive 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) in the following categories (up to $1,500 in consolidated spending per quarter, followed by 1% cashback or 1% per dollar):
- Buy on Amazon (April to June)
- Choose a streaming service (April to June)
- Internet, cable and telephone services (June only)
We reliably view Amazon as the Q2 category; however, this is the first time we have seen a streaming service in three years. We haven’t seen internet, telephone and cable services since 2021, so the rewards in this category have been a long time.

As mentioned above, you must activate the category for the quarter to unlock bonus potential. If you have activated your own category this quarter, you don’t have to do anything else to earn rewards on the internet, phone and cable services.
It’s easy to complete this process with your chase account; just provide your last name, the last four digits of the card, and the postal code. Registration is now open.
Analysis of Q2 Bonus Category
These categories cover fees that many people earn regularly. Although many homes no longer have cables, almost everyone has internet and at least one phone bill.
This is a great motivation if you have been buying or signing up for a new streaming service on a large Amazon.
Here are the details:
- Amazon: It can be tough to get a substantial bonus on Amazon purchases without one of the best credit cards for Amazon orders, so it’s a valuable category. Cardholders will receive a range of rewards for Amazon purchases, including general products, digital downloads, gift cards and Amazon Prime subscriptions. Many cardholders may be able to maximize their quarterly earnings by just this category.
- Select Stream Service: While streaming services don’t usually cost too much on their own, most people have at least some subscriptions in their families. If you want to watch the season finale of “White Lotus” or NBA playoffs this spring, please win the reward and convert streaming payments to this card. (Remember to switch them back to the regular payment method in July.)
- Internet, cable and telephone services: Bills can pile up quickly, so you must get a bonus reward in some of them. Your options other than your business card to earn rewards on the internet, cable and phone bills are limited, so you can take advantage of this bonus category. Like streaming services, just remember to return to the typical payment method automatically before the July bill expires.
Remember that Chase limits you to earn 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar), you can earn $1,500 in the combined bonus category every quarter, and you can activate the bonus. Once you reach your maximum, you will earn a 1% return on these purchases (or 1 point per dollar).

Chase Freedom Bonus Category FAQ
How does the rotation category work?
Chase announces a set of bonus categories each quarter that will receive a 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) over the upcoming three months (total spending up to $1,500 per quarter).
Typically, these categories are announced in a month before the new quarter begins to give card members pre-activate new categories. However, you can activate the category in the middle of the last month of the quarter.
Categories tend to be repeated regularly. For example, grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations are common categories that you often pop up on your bonus calendar. So, depending on the category and whether they can be maximized, these two cards can offer pretty decent cashbacks or bonus points over the year.
How much money can I make every quarter?
Chase limits 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) to the first $1,500 spent on the quarterly shared bonus category, and you can activate the bonus.
While it may not sound like a lot, over time, cashing back will add up. Maximize the cash backpack category every quarter and you will earn $75 in cash back every quarter for up to $300 per year. This is valuable for a not-small credit card.
Also, suppose you have a card that earns transferable Chase Ultimate Reward Points, such as the Chase SapphirePreferred® card (see Rates and Fees). In this case, you can combine the rewards in Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex cards with the rewards you earn from a better ultimate reward card. By doing so, your reward becomes completely transferable.
If you follow this method, your $300 bonus cashback will be 30,000 ultimate bonus points. TPG’s March 2025 valuation PEG Chase points are 2.05 cents, allowing you to earn 30,000 points in a year, worth $615.
How do I activate my 5% category quarterly?
You can head to Chase’s website to activate the 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) category for the quarter. You can also register through the Chase mobile app.
Here is how to register:
1. Go to the Chase Bonus Activation page, or log in to your Chase account.
2. Enter your last name, the last four digits of your card number, and the billing postal code. If you don’t have a card on hand, log in to your Chase account to retrieve these numbers.
3. Click Activate 5% to register.
4. If you have multiple chase free cards, make sure to register each card.
5. Keep the screenshot of activation in case of any issues later – although you should also receive a “You are activated!” confirmation email.
Can I gain both the buckling of chasing freedom and the pursuit of freedom to double my income potential?
Yes, you can have these two cards. So if you already have the freedom to chase and want to add the elasticity of chase to your wallet, you are free to do so.
Remember that the original free card is no longer open to new applicants. However, if you want to have only one, you can provide free resilience as a product change.
Of course, you also need to make sure you qualify for a new chase card.
How to maximize freedom and free elastic cards?
The most important thing is to activate your card to earn 5% cashback (or 5 points per dollar) quarterly in a specific category and then use your card for purchases in those categories.

If you are a Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex cardholder, you can earn 5% cashback (or spend 5 points until June 30th) on Amazon as well as select streaming and internet, cable and telephone services.
Remember, Chase limits your quarterly bonus category revenue to the top 1,500 of total spend per quarter.
