Celebrating 10 million enrollment numbers on AI Thanks Day

Continuously increase global acquisition of AI skills through new content and product experiences

Coursera CEO Greg Hart

The rapid growth and advancement of artificial intelligence has created unprecedented demand for AI skills, which is still accelerating.

On AI Thank You Day, I am proud to announce that Genai courses on Coursera have already had over 10 million enrollments, with 12 new enrollments per minute per minute in 2025. Thanks to Chatgpt’s launch less than three years ago, learners around the world have spent more than 10 million learning time developing Genai skills – the equivalent of about 1,000 years. As they get to know, they are increasingly using our Genai tools to personalize their experiences, from getting real-time support with Coursera coaches to learning in preferred languages of AI translation and voiceover.

To build on this momentum, we are pleased to have a leadership role in expanding our Genai directory, which now includes more than 925 courses.

How Coursera’s AI tools can be personalized at scale, accessible learning

Coursera has been a leader in leveraging the power of AI to transform learning experiences. A few months after Chatgpt’s release, we launched several flagship Genai products to translate content faster through Coach, personalize learning through coaching, and create courses using Course -Builder. Since then, we continue to innovate in these products and new products that debut.

Today, I’m proud to share how these tools drive real-world impact – there’s a list of 100 of the most influential companies in time, Newsweek’s AI Impact Award winners, and Forrester’s leader in the technology skills development platform.

AI Translation: Increase global access to high-quality education

In April 2023, we translated 2,000 dishes in six languages using AI. We now offer over 5500 courses and 65 professional certificates in 26 languages to provide engagement for learners around the world.

  • 1.3 million learners recorded enrollment in 3.8 million AI translation courses.
  • Dedicated learners are from Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Peru and Spain.
  • Learners completed the translation course at a higher speed, nearly 25% faster.

AI dubbing: Reduce language barriers

Building on the momentum of AI translation, we launched AI dubbing in April 2025 to bring local language learning to life. We have expanded our products and now have over 300 courses in five languages that are driving strong early adoption and engagement.

  • More than 120,000 learners used over 425,000 hours of AI dubbing.
  • Dubbing is the most involved in Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Chile.
  • About half of learners say voiceover improves their focus, understanding and enjoyment.

Coursera Coursera: Provide personalized learning and measurable results

Launched in April 2023, Coach is initially a personal tutor powered by LLMS and has roots in course material to help learners with questions, feedback, video summary and more. Today, coaches can now provide career advice and power immersive, instructor-led guidance – ultimately changing the way people learn.

  • More than 2.6 million learners exchanged 36 million messages with coaches.
  • Coaches support traditionally underserved learners and are more likely to be used by women (about 11%), women without a degree (about 11%), and career sponsors (40%).
  • Learners who use coaches are 9.5% more likely to pass the quiz on their first attempt and 11.6% of the projects are completed per study time.

AI-driven course builder: Accelerate course creation

In a rapidly changing world, course builders can help organizations quickly create high-quality content. The tool was announced in April 2023 to automatically generate course structures, readings, assignments and vocabulary using AI – greatly reducing the time and cost of creating or customizing courses.

  • The Course Builder has completed more than 3,400 courses, resulting in an enrollment rate of 665,000.
  • The most used curriculum builders on campus are followed by businesses and governments.
  • Institutional creation increased by 3.5 times year-on-year.

AI-driven academic integrity: Extended proven learning

As Genai becomes a common learning tool, institutional leaders need new ways to validate learning outcomes. In June 2024, we launched a suite of academic integrity features to limit access to high-risk scenarios, control online environments, detect plagiarism and evaluate real understanding, thus having a measurable impact on millions of impacts.

  • These academic integrity features facilitate learning completed by 8.2 million courses.
  • The amount of completion of low labor was reduced by 75%, the amount of plagiarism was reduced by 30%, while misconduct during the approval period was reduced by 90%.

On AI Thank You Day, we celebrate how AI creates positive change. We are extremely proud of how learners, educators and institutions acquire Genai skills on Coursera and reimagine how we learn, teach and ultimately build a more inclusive future in a responsible way.
