With its cheerful pink-and-white striped umbrellas and an entrance shrouded in lush greenery — a rarity in New York City, but an element that lends the hotel its sense of effortless cool — Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC sits just a stone’s throw from major Chelsea attractions like the buzzy High Line, Chelsea Market, the Whitney Museum of American Art and dozens of high-end shops.

Checking in this hotel was a quick thing as two friendly waiters greeted me at the smooth black marble front desk and they let me settle down and headed towards my room in less than five minutes. During my two-day stay I never found the relatively small lobby crowded, which was a surprise given the location.

Rooms at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC has 186 rooms, ranging from entry-level superior rooms, terrace queen or kingdom to luxury rooms and luxury suites, the latter has 23, including 23, including Grapiortic Poliforts Polifort Suiltific Spented Penthouse Suite.

After checking in, I got on the elevator from the beginning and it was obvious that the hotel worked hard to bring the unique features of the Manhattan meat packaging area into the guest rooms. Expecting an ivory-shaped atmosphere, the cool blues and grey tones are reminiscent of the Hudson River and are full of fun in stylish colors and modern art forms.

My 300 square foot luxury room definitely felt spacious by New York City standards. I arrived in Manhattan on the way to Golden Hour, and through the bay windows facing the Hudson River (the feature of my favorite room), I not only caught a glimpse of the river, but also the beginning of the beautiful sunset, which was the warm light of the whole room, adding to the lovely, rich Mahogany Furniture.

The room features a comfortable queen-size bed with a soft white linen underneath and a stunning wooden headboard below. Matching bedside tables are all on either side, with smooth lights and plenty of sockets.

Next to the south wall of the room is a work desk in leather (with a light and a cordless phone) located under the wall-mounted flat-screen TV. Below the table is a full minibar. One of the coolest features in the room is the Lululemon Studio Mirror, which means that the workout in the room is easier…although there is a live gym (more below).

Throughout the room, nestled on beautiful river-facing bay windows, this is a cozy sofa that can be converted into a full-size pull-out bed, simple glass coffee table and a leather seated chair – completely creating a peaceful, idyllic corner to enjoy the morning coffee or watch the city enjoy the morning coffee or an object.

Throughout the space, the details I appreciate are reminiscent of hotel art-centric communities such as pop art style pillows, Marshall speakers and Banks Coffee Table Books.

The small but functional white tiled bathroom features a bunch of cheerful Zinnias, plenty of counter space, fluffy towels and bathrobes, a refreshing planted alchemist bath products and a shower with rain fixtures and hand-held sticks.

Overall, I found the room very comfortable and well-designed, with a playful touch tossing, even though it was the bay window (and the unrivaled view that followed), which made it difficult to get out of the room.

What did I eat at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

At Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC, there are four restaurants: Le Coin, Saishin, Coffee + Cocktails and Gansevoort rooftops.

Coffee + Cocktail

I sat in a coffee + cocktail for breakfast, which all offer indoor seating (located to the right of the hotel’s main entrance) and seating covered with terrace, as well as the main European coffee shop atmosphere. There are several menus throughout the day, including breakfast, all-day menu, Apero, cocktails, champagne and wine, and a happy hour menu. Here I enjoyed a well-crafted cappuccino ($7), flaky almond croissants ($5) and a fresh fruit-style Acai bowl ($18).

While I didn’t have the chance to sit here for a cocktail, I recommend doing this – if you can grab a place (there are consistent routes for two days of my stay, it’s best to book in advance).

Coins

With its unmissable pink and green striped patterns, the colorful Vibey Le Coin is located on the ground floor of the hotel on the corner of 13th Street and Ninth Avenue. Accompanied by lunch and dinner menus inspired by traditional Parisian cuisine and French coastal delicacies, guests can enjoy meals indoors (and surrounded by the art of Lycra Los Angeles, Paris Chong) or exterior and exterior, front and forward, living in the pebbles and centers below Bistro-style-style umbrellas.

The dinner here was delicious and quirky, from the East Coast oysters paired with crispy, shallow scallion milk clips ($21) to the New York Strip ($43), its rich bordelaise and potato grande, which I won’t forget anytime soon.

These cocktails are equally sacred and I highly recommend using the effervescent Le Coin Speciale ($22), made by Belvedere, St. Germain, grapefruit juice and Prosecco.

saishin

With 14 or 19 course options, Saishin brings Omakase’s art to the rooftop of the hotel. Guests can enjoy fresh sushi at the chef’s counter or choose a la carte, popular entrees and sushi menus from the dining table.

Gansevoort roof

Elevated European cuisine paired with panoramic views of Manhattan, is offered by guests at the loft-style Gansevoort rooftop restaurant, with blush-pink bar, hardwood floors and 10-foot-tall olive trees being the star of the show. A rotating seasonal menu made from fresh ingredients is served alongside craft cocktails and powerful wine and champagne programs.
