The impressive C-suite job opportunity may hide a key red flag. Discover this subtle but significant warning sign and what it really means to your execution trajectory. Don’t let your next big move become a mistake – be careful to protect your leadership’s future!

Reminders to cooperate with executive search companies

The seemingly impressive C-Suite job opportunities you receive can hide a critical red flag that will harm you for several years. I am Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter. People don’t have employed my BS job coaches and career advice worldwide because the process of finding a job and being successful is easier. What’s the problem? What will your problem be that will harm you for the longest time? The answer is really simple. The answer does boil down to having no access to the board, no access to decision makers, and no access to people who will ultimately decide your destiny.

So, for a long time and a short time, it is important to make sure that the offer doesn’t hinder you from success in your next organization. Because, you know, If you end up being disconnected from the person you really report, if you are disconnected from leadership, they aren’t really in touch with you. The second time they guess, they will eventually get rid of you because they are not loyal to you or connected with you.

If you can’t visit the board regularly, then you can be the CEO, the highest decision maker, then you are alone. You are not a leader. Without impact or sponsorship, your ability to lead, drive strategies and deliver results will be compromised. In large organizations, obviously, not every C-suite role will be reported to the board. However, if you are a CMO or CHRO in a public company, you can report to the CEO rather than the board of directors. It doesn’t matter. But as long as your reporting structure is clear and your voice is part of the decision dialogue, however, as long as you are going to a smart startup, as long as your reporting structure is clear, you are OK. But if you separate from them in that organization, it’s dead meat.
