American Airlines forges loyal partnership with Porter Airlines

American Airlines has a new North American partner.
The Fort Worth-based airline announced a new codesharing agreement with Porter Airlines, an airline Canada that has built a fast-growing flight network on a brand new plane.
As part of the arrangement, travelers will be able to earn and redeem American Airlines’ Aadvantage miles on certain porter flights and earn an elite status of loyalty. American loyalists will be able to seamlessly connect between the two airlines through the operator’s website and mobile app via Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ).
This setting should provide Aadvantage members with new opportunities to earn and redeem miles (and earn loyalty credit) to fly to numerous Canadian destinations such as Halifax, Nova Scotia, St. John’s in Newfoundland and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Apart from its OneWorld Alliance partner, Alaska Airlines, the new partnership will easily become the deepest part of the United States with another North American airline.
“Canada is one of the most popular destinations for travelers, and Americans are pleased to work with Porter Airlines to unlock more travel options for customers,” Anmol Bhargava, senior vice president of the Global Alliance, said in a statement Monday.
Knowledge about Porter Airlines
Porter has been using the new fleet development network of the new Enmaer E195-E2 aircraft (E195-E2 aircraft), i.e., area-sized jets with pseudo-premium cabin experience, including beer and wine provided in glassware, and free Wi-Fi for all passengers.

The airline’s partnership with American Airlines is not the first to work with American Airlines: In particular, Porter’s loyalty to and from the West Coast through a Toronto-based airline flight network with Alaska is less than two years old.
New America – How Driver Partnership Works
Right now, the U.S. flyer will be able to connect to Porter in Toronto to reach the following Canadian destinations:

In the coming weeks, the partnership will open more Canadian destinations: Calgary, Alberta; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Kelowna and Vancouver, British Columbia; St. John, Newfoundland; and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Porter’s regular flighters will also benefit from the new partnership. The operator will sell codeshare itineraries through the largest hub in the U.S. and ultimately provide connections with American Airlines’ extensive Caribbean, Central and South American networks.
In recent years, Porter once a smaller boutique airline, has linked its fleet, route network and to cross-border travelers. Even if travel demand between the U.S. and Canada declines in 2025 in 2025, the airline has a total of 24% more seats than it did in 2024, according to airline analytics Cirium.
Porter’s 2025 seats between Canada and the United States grew 125% on the 2023 track.
Bottom line
We should note: Porter’s calorie U.S. route network cannot help American flights through this collaboration, as the arrangement focuses on flights in and out of Toronto.
However, the two carriers said they “will continue to evaluate more codeshare destinations and opportunities for loyalty benefits” – the latter perhaps a way to extend the increased allowance to Aadvantage Elite members on Porter.
