“No one knows everything” invites community recovery at Hagerty Museum of Art – Huge

The core component of the huge curated exhibition, No one knows everythingis community participation. Every artist (formerly) each (Bryana Bibbs, Raoul Deal, Maria Gaspar and Swoon) interact deeply with and collaborate with the people they portray, a commitment that inspires nuanced, insightful projects and real community processes.
As part of the Haggerty Museum of Art exhibition, we considered how this way of working was reflected through programming and participatory projects. The final piece on the show is Bibbs’ “Weaving Story”, which includes a large loom installed on the gallery wall, as well as nearby threads, shredders and other materials. Once the audience considers the work of each artist, they invite them to contribute to the collective tapestry on the loom, or create a smaller personal work to take home.
Bibbs adapted the exhibition’s sensitive themes and asked participants to explore their feelings and memories in response to the artwork. The audience can even write down their ideas and insert their chopped notes into the final work.
In addition to “weaving stories”, No one knows everything It also offers an opportunity to interact with Gaspar’s Missing Prison (Wisconsin) at a public event on October 9. After discussions on the intersection with Robert S. Smith, the artist will lead attendees to a “punch party” where participants use a fist of a hole to cover up images of holes in prisons, prisons and detention facilities. The finished work will then be re-lived in the gallery.
Finally, Colossal will also have a conversation with Deal and Dr. Sergio M. González to discuss immigration, well-being and the art of production, which is in this increasingly unstable time. Participants are encouraged to spend time on the exhibition’s work before joining our discussion, which will be held on September 24.
No one knows everything It will be held in Milwaukee on December 20 and will be held on September 11 to open the reception. Find all the shows on the museum website.
