“This groundbreaking represents the beginning of an unrivaled luxury experience in Costa Rica,” Alberto Halabe, partner at property developer Solana, said in a statement with TPG. “Papagayo Bay offers an extraordinary natural environment and brings the iconic St. Regis brand here, allowing us to create a destination that celebrates the nature of Pura Vida through outstanding design, hotel and service.”

Oceanfront Resort will feature 120 rooms and suites with sea views and a minimalist modern aesthetic. Six different dining options, from Cliffs (a Japanese Magnolia Fusion Restaurant) to the property’s iconic St Regis Bar and Speakeasy, will suit any taste.

In addition to the rooms, San Regis Papagoo Resort will welcome travelers with 143 branded residences. These start at $3 million and range from two to five bedrooms, each with its own dive pool. But the crown jewelry is the $30 million Astor mansion, a six-bedroom home with over 21,000 square feet, with private pool, wine cellar and own gym.
