Four years ago, Breeze Airways was a brand new startup airline. It will fly outside the United States for the first time early next year.
Breeze revealed in a long-awaited announcement on Thursday that it has received regulatory approval to launch international services.
As a result, low-cost airlines have announced plans to fly six flights to new warm weather destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.
It’s a milestone for the Salt Lake City-for more than a year, executives told TPG that is coming.
As part of Breeze’s cross-border expansion, the airline will connect four cities to Mexican beach destinations in Cancun: Charleston, South Carolina; New Orleans; Norfolk, Virginia; and Providence.

The airline will fly to Jamaica from two Southeast airports and connect one of them to Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic.
All in all, these are seven international expansions for the airline. On each route, airlines will offer uninterrupted flights in tropical destinations during the cold winter months.

Deepen its position in North Carolina
North Carolina’s Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU) was the biggest winner announced Thursday and has a pair of new international destinations.
This reveal is only one week of uninterrupted service to Ireland through Aer Lingus at the fast-growing East Coast Airport.
The airline announced Thursday that Breeze has run more than two dozen routes in the RDU, a hub that will become the airline’s official crew member in early 2026.
The move will bring about 200 pilots and flight attendants to the North Carolina Research Triangle.
Adding an RDU will give Breeze a dozen crew base on its network.
Future international growth expectations
The seven international expansions on Thursday are expected to be the beginning of a breeze.
After recently gaining flag carrier status from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the airline is focusing on a stronger international network in the near future, with its Airbus A220s growing.
Lukas Johnson, chief commercial officer of Breeze, told TPG: “From many of our foundations on the East Coast, these are many of the largest destinations internationally. [we’ll] Start with several of the most popular destinations and hope to expand from there. ”

Expectations for the breeze airway
Launched in 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, Breeze will use its new Airbus A220 on its international routes.
While the airline is a low-cost aircraft carrier, its A220 does feature twelve domestic first-class recliners in the front, as well as 45 super seats, and 80 standard seats in the coach.
The carrier offers four fare tiers:
- No elasticity, it’s classic stripping, budget airline fares without seating options or luggage
- Very good, with full size carry-on bag
- Nicer, which includes a check-in bag and carry-on bag with access to the room seat
- The best ones include two checkout bags, a carry-on bag and a first class seat
