5 Online Barre Courses You Must Try

Sharing 5 online leverage classes you must try that are fun additions to your fitness routine.

Hi friends! Are you OK? I hope you have a great week! I’m meeting with some friends, taking client calls, and taking a yoga class.

Today, I want to talk about a workout that has stood the test of time. Here’s something I’ve loved for years and always made it a staple in my daily routine:

Barre!

5 Online Barre Courses You Must Try

I love barre workouts because they remind me of my old dance days and they are challenging but easier on the joints. The impact is minimal and I feel like I always get a good workout no matter what. There are a lot of great online barre options out there, so if you want to take some barre lessons at home instead of at a studio, I wanted to share five of my top five. This is a great option for my perimenopausal or menopausal friends who are used to HIIT workouts but want something low impact but still a great workout.

5 Online Barre Courses You Must Try

pure barre

Pure Barre classes are designed to target specific muscle groups through small isometric movements. By isolating and exercising these muscles to fatigue, you can achieve a longer, leaner physique while improving your flexibility, posture, and overall body alignment. This is a fun and challenging full-body workout.

One of my favorite things about Pure Barre is its inclusivity. Whether you’re a seasoned fitness enthusiast or a beginner, Pure Barre offers modifications and variations to meet your needs on your fitness journey. The supportive and encouraging environment makes it a welcoming space for all fitness levels and ages.

Why I love Pure Barre:

I feel like these classes are more music driven and they feel like the most “classic” barre exercises to me. It includes a combination of pulses, isometric holds, and a full range of motion in addition to core-burning, juicy stretches, and challenging series of moves. There are a variety of class formats available, including classic, empowering, and reformed, that you can mix up to keep your workouts fresh and exciting.

Pricing: Starting at $9.99/month (billed annually; $29.99 billed monthly), you also have access to different formats, including Club Pilates and Yoga Six.

britsbar

I recently discovered these workouts and fell in love with them. They’re classic barre drills with solid form cues, functional flow, and amazing burn. Brit Shimansky, a former professional ballerina turned barre instructor, knows what it’s like to juggle life as a mom while making fitness a priority. After years of teaching and training in New York City, Brit became a mom in 2020 and found that fitting in studio time no longer worked. This personal turning point inspired her to create Britsbarre Virtual Studio: a space built by moms for moms where movement meets real life. She creates short, beat-driven barre and strength classes that are highly effective without requiring a huge time commitment.

In these classes, you’ll learn traditional barre training: low-impact, high-rep sequences designed to strengthen muscles, increase endurance, and restore energy, even on busy days. Brit is also a certified prenatal and postpartum trainer, so you can expect lots of great coaching and modification options. The workouts are completely on-demand, with many taking less than 30 minutes, making them perfect for busy moms who want an effective, flexible and engaging workout. Each session includes alignment-focused instruction, modifications (including prenatal/postnatal), and options that can be taken without equipment or in small spaces. Equipment for these classes includes mats, bands, Pilates balls and dumbbells. Click here to try it out! All subscriptions include a 7-day free trial.

Sculpture Society

Okay, to be fair, this is not a traditional barre, but strength and conditioning training is very much like barre. If you love barre classes, I definitely recommend giving them a try!

Created by celebrity trainer Megan Roup, Sculpt Society is a dynamic fitness approach that combines dance aerobics, sculpting exercises and targeted exercises to help you achieve your fitness goals and unleash your inner confidence. The Sculpt Society is dedicated to finding joy in movement and embracing the body’s natural rhythms. You’ll increase your heart rate, burn calories, and enhance cardiovascular fitness with high-energy aerobic dance exercises. But it’s not just cardio, Sculpture Society goes a step further and helps you improve your overall strength and endurance with light-weight sculpting exercises to target and tone specific muscle groups.

Sculpt Society includes a variety of exercises and equipment to keep your workouts exciting and effective. From resistance bands and hand weights to sliders and ankle weights, you’ll experience a variety of movements that challenge your muscles in new ways. These exercises are designed to activate your entire body, helping you build strength, improve flexibility, and enhance overall athleticism.

Why I love Sculpture Society:

I really like the design of the workouts and the Megan Rupp vibe. She’s inspiring and funny, but doesn’t try too hard to make you laugh. No silly buzzwords, looks like a real person. This is really refreshing in the world of top fitness instructors and the classes are all very well done. I had fun, I sweated, I felt challenged.

Pricing: They offer a free trial. You can also use my code GINA25 at this link to get 25% off your first month. After that it’s $179.99/year or $19.99 (what I currently pay for my subscription).

Coach Kyle’s training

I discovered Coach Kyle’s YouTube a few years ago and absolutely love her workouts. They are more like ballerinas, which I like, and I also like her low-key approach to coaching. She has tons of workout content on her channel and the best part is it’s all free. She is truly an excellent barre instructor. I wish I could add more information here, but I’m having trouble finding more information about Coach Kyle and her background, although she is socially active. The good news is, you can check out her workouts for free and see if you like them!

Pricing: Free! She also has an on-demand platform that you can check out here for $19.99/month.

ballet beautiful

Thinking back to when I took classes in person! I was blown away by the uniqueness and effectiveness of this format. All you need is a yoga mat to get started.

Here’s more information about Ballet Beautiful:

Created by professional ballet dancer and celebrity fitness trainer Mary Helen Bowers, Ballet Beautiful draws inspiration from the graceful movements and techniques of ballet, blending elements of ballet conditioning, Pilates and yoga. Through a series of precise and controlled movements, you’ll engage your muscles, improve your posture, and build muscle strength and endurance. You don’t need to have any dance experience to enjoy the benefits of these exercises. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced fitness enthusiast, Ballet Beautiful offers a range of exercises and modifications to suit your fitness journey.

Pricing: $39.99 for 1 month, or $90 for 90 days

Have you tried any of the barre courses mentioned above? Which one do you like best?

Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you soon.

Honorable mentions:

Barre3, dedicated to finding balance in all aspects of life. These workouts focus on functional movements designed to improve strength, flexibility, and stability while nurturing your mental health. It’s not just about the physical aspect; it’s about connecting with your body and taking a mindful approach to fitness.

Barre3 classes are a blend of isometric exercises, functional movements and dynamic stretching. The use of props like gliders, weights, and balls adds variety and intensity to your workouts, keeping you engaged and challenged.

Why I like bare3:

I love the mindfulness aspect of barre3. Each class places a strong emphasis on the mind-body connection, and each class begins and ends with a series of breaths. I’m adding this as an honorable mention because I’m no longer as enthusiastic about these workouts as I once was. I feel like there are more dynamic and enjoyable options, which I shared above.

Pricing: 14-day trial. Annual billing is $19.99/month, monthly billing is $29.99/month.
