Chase Pre-Qualification Tool: Check Your Qualifying Offers

If you’ve been thinking about applying for a Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees), now may be the perfect time. Chase has a top welcome offer of 175,000 points for select consumers, and there’s an easy way to check if you qualify.

Chase has relaunched a pre-approval tool that lets potential applicants answer some simple questions to see if they qualify for a welcome offer. It works similarly to American Express’ pre-qualification tool.

Here’s what you need to know.

Overview of Chase Pre-Qualification Tools

Chase’s pre-qualification tool allows customers to answer a few questions and receive a list of cards for which they have been pre-qualified.

After answering a few questions, Chase will run a soft inquiry that won’t affect your credit score and display the cards you qualify for.

From there, you can choose to proceed with a full application, which will trigger a hard query. Not everyone will qualify for every card, but this tool will show you any alternatives you might qualify for.

What cards are in the tool?

The pre-approval tool currently contains the following cards:

Pre-approved tools offer higher welcome offers only on Sapphire Reserve. Qualified applicants who complete the process may see a 125,000 point offer (which is the standard welcome bonus and includes the same spending requirement of $6,000 in the first three months) or a higher 175,000 point offer. There is no choice between the two.

Why use this tool?

The main reason to use this tool is to check if you qualify for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Enhanced Offer. The other cards included in the tool don’t have boosted welcome offers, so applicants only see the standard public offers.

If you’re not interested in the Sapphire Reserve, this tool still allows you to confirm eligibility for other Chase cards without risking a hard inquiry.

bottom line

Before applying for a Chase card, consider using the pre-approval tool to see what you may qualify for. It can help you avoid unnecessary hard inquiries and potentially unlock Chase’s highest ever offer on Sapphire Reserve, which could be worth tens of thousands of extra points.

Even if you’re not pursuing the Sapphire Reserve card, you can still use this tool to confirm whether you qualify for other cards before submitting your application. Many consumers will find this a helpful addition to the Chase website.
