Lyft expands its reward program for personal and business riders

Lyft has announced some changes that will make your next ride even more meaningful. The new changes have the greatest impact on corporate riders. But if you are a frequent personal Lyft rider and connect Alaska Airlines with your rewards partners, you’ll see some increased revenue.

Let’s jump into these exciting updates.

Lyft Commercial Rider Update

Most of the news benefits the most. Eligible riders who are invited to participate in their company’s LYFT business plan will be able to earn Lyft cash on most rides without activation. Commercial riders will earn:

  • 6% standard work rides (standard, priority, XL, pet, wheelchair, green)
  • 8% premium rides (black, black SUV, extra comfort)
  • 8% back to the airport and booked rides

The Lyft cash obtained can be used for future riding, including personal rides. It is important to note that this Lyft cash is only earned on business rides and you must register through the company’s LYFT business profile.

Additionally, business riders who connect loyalty reward partners will see an increase in revenue with their preferred partner. With Hilton honors, they will earn 6 points per dollar on most business rides, and with Alaska Airlines’ mileage program, they will earn 4-6 miles per dollar on most commercial rides.

Lyft Personal Rider Update

Lyft currently has partnerships with several airline and hotel loyal partners, including the Alaska Mileage Program, Bilt Rewards and Hilton Honors. The main change is the improved partnership with Alaska Airlines. Riders who choose Alaska Airlines as their reward partner will now receive promotions:

  • Lyft rides cost 2 miles per day, including standard, priority pickup and XL rides
  • Spend 3 miles per dollar on airport travel and overhead mode such as black, black SUV and extra comfort

This will benefit all Alaska Airlines ride plan customers who ride, especially those who prefer to ride on premium rides. Alaska Airlines says:

“This enhanced revenue structure means frequent travelers, those who prefer a quality ride experience, can accumulate mileage faster than ever before. Whether you’re flying or making yourself more comfortable, every dollar spent brings you closer to the next Alaska airline’s redemption.”

Additionally, if you don’t choose Alaska Airlines as a reward loyal partner with Lyft, you can choose Hilton and earn 3 points per dollar, or choose BILT, or choose BILT and earn 2 points per dollar on qualified rides. With bilt you can even use bilt points Pay For Rides, though I don’t recommend you to choose this option, as you can get more value by transferring your BILT points to your travel partner.

Better yet, if you have a qualified chase card and earn a 5% bonus by September 30, 2027, you can stack these bonus incomes.

Additionally, if you are a Chase SapphireReserve® (see Rates and Fees) or Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (see Rates and Fees) cardholder, you will receive a monthly credit application of up to $10 a year for $120 a year for use on Lyft rides annually, available on September 30, 2027.

Plus, thanks to Lyft’s partnership with Doordash Dashpass (with the privileges that come with many chase cards), you’ll get twice the ride discount, which includes a 10% discount on on-demand rides and a booked airport ride discount (up to four rides per month to July 30th).

Lyft has also released a handy guide that compares the cost of airport parking at 15 major U.S. airports with ride-hailing services. This is very useful because almost every time I fly I find myself in this situation and wondering if I should drive and park or take a car.

Bottom line

Lyft is further expanding its rewards program. If you are a qualifying business rider, you can now earn Lyft cash on most business rides that can be used on future rides. For private riders, you can now earn more Alaska air miles on your next ride on Lyft.
