Amtrak sets date for the new Acela train debut

It’s been years and almost here.
The company announced Thursday that Amtrak’s next-generation ACELA train will officially strike the railway on August 28.
This is a major upgrade for passengers and a delay and expectation for new, state-of-the-art Acela products, an Amtrak milestone.
From the beginning, it will be a little limited.
Amtrak said Thursday it plans to debut its next-generation train when it launches later this month. This means you will still see the ACELA frequency of existing equipment operations in the next few months as more new trains are introduced into the fleet.
In total, the company has 28 brand new Acela trains, which are scheduled to enter tax services in 2027.
Amtrak stopped sharing the deployment schedule for the new train, but noted that travelers will be able to judge the ACELA departure of the new train during the booking process.
Therefore, you need to pay special attention to the seat allocation on the Amtrak app to determine whether you are traveling on a new train.

These next-generation ACELA trains will provide Amtrak with the highest quality experience in the Northeast corridor between Washington, D.C. and Boston.

Travelers can expect modern seating and cabins, as well as high-speed 5G Wi-Fi, personal power outlets and reading lights.
Additionally, the new train will have 27% more seats per departure than the existing fleet, Amtrak said, which will allow it to expand its schedule and weekend schedule.

When TPG first boarded the track test in 2022, they could preview the new train, but mom has been Amtrak’s word since the train’s introduction was delayed indefinitely.
Just last year, Amtrak had hoped to have a new Acela train deployment in spring 2025.
Despite the delays, it is exciting news for travelers who often ride the Northeast Corridor track.
Stay tuned to TPG for more updates, including the initial deployment schedule for the coming days.
