If you have ever studied rainbow-like mineral rings like the stripes of agate slices or observed lightweight filters, you will learn about Jessica Drenk’s fascination with geology. The New York-based artist upgraded items such as spam and pencils to create meticulously sculptural works that evoke striped crystals and colorful sedimentary stones.

Drenke’s upcoming solo exhibition, Elemental Form In Galleri Urbane, the relationship between transient and eternity continues to be inclined. “Built on a level, drenk makes erosion, deposition and crystallization into artificiality,” the gallery said.

Many of Drenk’s wall sheets are made of only paper, while some new works, such as piece Series, merge gypsum. The marble way color is cut from neat boards, and the “total triad” or “flow” looks like it is directly hewn from some wider sediment. Pan, we may see streams and cattle herds in a huge natural landscape.

Drenk emphasizes that the earth, water and our perception of time may be flowing, which may be the essence of artistic creation itself. Creatives usually work hard to experience moments in a “mobile state”. From the perspective of how work is done and how you observe, the artist describes this guiding spirit as “water sensitivity.”

Elemental Form Run in Dallas from September 6 to November 8. Find more information on the artist’s website and on Instagram.
