Delta Air Lines is strengthening its summer 2026 destination lineup and through new flights to the fashionable cities in northern Portugal.
Atlanta-based operator announced Friday that it will launch uninterrupted services from New York to Porto, Portugal next spring – the beautiful coastal city is known for its homeland of wine.
Delta’s new Porto service will fly in May from the airline’s John Kennedy International Airport (JFK) hub, the same airport, which will launch the Splashy Sardinia and Malta routes selected by customers and employees in the public vote last month.
“Whether it is discovering Portugal or heading to our other new destinations, such as Sardinia and Malta, these additions have expanded our customer options and enhanced the role of Kennedy International Airport as a leading global portal,” said Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of Delta Network Programs, in a statement announcing the announcement.
Portugal’s travel boom continues to grow
When launching the Porto service, Delta will also participate in the growing airline, which expands to Portuguese destinations outside the capital Lisbon, a product of travel to Portugal to grow rapidly.
This year, airlines have 76% higher flights between the U.S. and Porto Airport (OPO) than they did two years ago, according to airline analytics company Cirium.
United Airlines has served the city for a decade from the nearby Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Center.
Tap Air Portugal flies to Porto from Newark and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
However, Delta’s Porto flight will be the first at Kennedy International Airport, which will be launched on May 21.

Delta Air Lines’ new Porto flights
Atlanta-based airlines will fly the route using one of its Boeing 767-300s, especially its 767, whose latest “76K” configuration has a premium economy.
Aircraft Sport 26 Lie-flat Delta One Suites and 18 Delta Premium Selected Lounge Chairs. These complement 21-duration comfort and 151 seats in the main cabin.

Kennedy International Airport will provide Delta with seven new European routes for summer 2026. In addition to the aforementioned votes for Sardinia and Malta flights through the airline’s high-profile “Route Race”, the airline has announced new Boston services to Madrid and Nice, as well as flights to Nice and Nice, as well as Seattle flights, as well as Seattle flights.
Hotel Choice in Porto, Portugal
