Everyone is using AI to help their resumes pass ATS and get selected for interviews by human screeners. If all resumes look similar and read similar, how will you get selected?

don’t fall behind

With AI, all resumes should be able to meet the requirements of the job description they match. So, how do companies, recruiters, decide to talk to someone? I’m Jeff Altman, big game hunter. People hire me worldwide to provide job search guidance and career advice without a bachelor’s degree because I make the process of finding and succeeding in a job easier.

Now, let me simply say that whichever framework you use, whether it’s STAR or SOAR or CAR, whichever one it is, is going to depend on the situation you’re in or the challenge you’re facing – the first letter of the framework is going to make a difference. So STAR is situation or task, action, result. SOAR is Situation, Obstacle, Action, Outcome. CAR is Challenge, Action, Result.

It’s always in the first letter where you can really put the issue into context and make it clear what the issue is so that the company, the reader, can understand what you’re saying and therefore focus on the actions you’re taking. You know, like every bedtime story, the outcome is always “everyone lived happily ever after.” Well, that’s how it turned out. Everyone lived happily ever after. After all, what you’re doing is eliminating costs, increasing productivity by a certain percentage, and so on.

So the key to what makes you stand out from the rest is how you describe your situation in a way that attracts them, connects with them, so they want to read more. It’s all about defining what you have to deal with and what problems you face before you get actual results.
