Vacasa to end partnership with Wyndham Rewards program

In 2021, Wyndham Rewards launched a partnership with Vacasa, allowing members to redeem Wyndham points for Vacasa home rentals. This is one of the most valuable ways to redeem Wyndham points in years. However, this redemption option becomes less valuable in March 2024, and now, after its recent acquisition by Casago, Vacasa is ending its partnership with Wyndham Rewards.

“While we are disappointed with this news, we are working closely with them to make the transition as smooth as possible for our members, especially those who have already booked and those who may be ready to book,” a Wyndham Rewards spokesperson told TPG via email.

A Wyndham Rewards spokesperson also told TPG that all existing reservations “remain unchanged and are expected to be honored.” Members can modify existing reservations until November 30, but if they modify their check-in date, they must check out by January 31, 2026.

If you want to use Wyndham points to book your last Vacasa stay, you still have a little time. Specifically, Wyndham Rewards members can make new Vacasa reservations through November 30 for stays with a check-out date of January 31, 2026 or earlier.

Wyndham Rewards anticipates that most Vacasa rentals will continue to be available as this partnership ends. However, if the hotel you booked is unavailable, Wyndham Rewards will work to provide an alternative. If you have any questions, please call Wyndham Member Services: 1-800-441-1034.

bottom line

It’s disappointing that Wyndham Rewards’ partnership with Vacasa is coming to an end. I have redeemed my Wyndham points at several Vacasa hotels near ski resorts in Colorado, and during the redemption process I have received great value from my points.

But, especially after the March 2024 change that requires 30,000 points per bedroom per night for a Vacasa stay with an average nightly rate over $250, the value you can get through Wyndham Rewards and Vacasa partnerships has dropped. So, since then, I haven’t seen a case where it makes sense to redeem Wyndham points for a Vacasa property.

Luckily, there are plenty of other ways to redeem points and miles for vacation rentals. If you have Wyndham points and want to book a vacation rental, consider redeeming them for Cottages.com stays or Wyndham Vacation Club stays in the UK.
