The Capital One Venture X Rewards credit card just announced its largest welcome bonus in four years. New applicants can earn 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 in purchases within the first six months of account opening.
The card’s $395 annual fee is lower than most premium competitors.
I’m in my third year as a satisfied Venture X cardholder, and it still holds a place in my wallet as the most valuable premium credit card I’ve ever owned.
As the card’s welcome bonus increases to its highest level since launch, TPG readers can’t help but ask: How good is the Capital One Venture X’s 100,000-mile offer?
Here’s my take on it, and why this offer is both rare and valuable.
How common is Venture X’s 100,000 mile welcome bonus?
Very rare. Earn 100,000 Capital One bonus miles after spending $10,000 in the first six months of account opening, the highest public bonus since the card’s launch.
Aside from its debut in November 2021, when the card offered 100,000 miles for just a few months, the Venture That’s why increasing to 100,000 miles is so exciting.
In other words, this is the first time in four years that the card has really improved its benefits. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to apply, this is it.
Who is eligible for Venture X’s 100,000-mile welcome bonus?
TPG recommends a credit score of 740 or higher to approve this product.

Please note that if you opened or earned a welcome bonus (even with just 75,000 bonus miles) through the Venture
If you only opened the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card ($0 annual fee) or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card ($95 annual fee) or received a welcome bonus, you’re still eligible for Venture X and its huge bonus.
You must wait six months between applications for a Capital One card. If you were approved for any Capital One card within the past six months, you will need to wait for the Venture X card to be approved.

How much are 100,000 Capital One miles worth?
According to TPG’s November 2025 valuation, Capital One miles are worth 1.85 cents per mile. That means the 100,000-mile welcome bonus could have a travel value of up to $1,850 if you transfer your miles to any of Capital One’s more than 15 hotel and airline partners.
If you prefer simplicity, you can also redeem Capital One miles at a flat rate of 1 cent each toward a recent travel purchase or reservation made through Capital One Travel, so in this case, the 100,000-mile bonus is worth $1,000.
I’ve earned and redeemed hundreds of thousands of Capital One miles through Venture X over the past three years, and I think some of the best ways to use my miles include:
- Use Capital One miles to book domestic flights on American Airlines and send them to British Airways Club at a 1:1 rate. For flights up to 650 miles in length, you only need 12,000 British Airways Club Avios points plus $5.60 in taxes and fees.
- Fly to Europe in Business Class on Air France or KLM and earn 60,000 Capital Miles by simply switching to Flying Blue at a 1:1 rate. Both are excellent transatlantic airlines, although I have a slight preference for Air France for its chic design and food.
- Book Qatar Airways’ legendary Qsuite business class product from Europe to Australia for just 90,000 Capital One miles one-way and transfer into the Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Club program at a 1:1 rate. If you live in the United States, you can book a nonstop business class flight to the Middle East for just 70,000 Qatar Airways Avios points, which is an incredible value for a flight of up to 15 hours. This price also includes flights from the West Coast.
Also keep an eye out for occasional transfer bonus offers, as they will make you need fewer miles to book them.

So, is the 100,000-mile Venture X deal one of the best ever?
If you were lucky enough to apply for the Venture
If you’re like me and missed the offer (Capital One miles weren’t really on my points and miles radar back in 2021), this is truly one of the best offers ever for a premium rewards card.
Aside from the huge welcome bonus, here are my five favorite things about the Venture X card:
- annual credit: You’ll earn $300 in points per year for bookings made through Capital One Travel, instead of having to use $5 or $10 in monthly coupon points like some other premium cards have now.
- Anniversary Bonus: 10,000 bonus miles per account anniversary starting on the first anniversary (valued at $185 for travel, according to TPG).
- Use the lounge: Free access to Capital One lounges and more than 1,800 Priority Pass lounges for you (as the cardholder) and up to two guests. But keep in mind that guest lounge access will be tightened by 2026.
- Excellent portal profitability: Earn 10 miles per $1 spent on hotels and car rentals, and 5 miles per $1 spent on vacation rentals and flights booked with Capital One Travel.
- Daily income leads its peers: Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on all other purchases.
In my opinion, the $300 annual points combined with the 10,000 bonus miles easily cover the annual fee, as I discovered in my second year as a cardholder.
I love the custom cocktails in the Capital One lounge at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and frequently use my Priority Pass membership to access lounges in Europe.
Booking travel through the Capital One Travel portal is a great way to earn Capital One miles, in fact, the card earns 2 miles per $1 spent, which is higher than any other card I have. That’s why it’s been the default card in my Google Pay wallet for years.
bottom line

- This is the highest welcome bonus we’ve seen since the card launched four years ago.
- According to TPG’s valuation, the welcome bonus is worth $1,850.
- The card earns at least 2 miles per dollar spent on every purchase, which is higher than cards with much higher annual fees.
