People spend too much time trying to be smart and recruiters don’t care about that. Some people are turned off by it. What do they care about?
Recruiters know something you don’t: They like people who stand out
One thing recruiters know that you don’t is that it doesn’t hurt for them to be smart, witty, and have a flashy resume. All they care about when reviewing your resume and LinkedIn profile is can you do my job? Beyond that, it’s a fork in the road.
Now what you do in person is different. But when it comes to your resume and LinkedIn profile, keep it simple. Highlight your successes. Talk about how you had an impact on the organization or project or team, how you achieved results, and quantify them. Everything else is bullshit. There’s more on my website, TheBigGameHunter.us.
