Welcome to Job TV on YouTube. Today, we’re flipping the script on job hunting. We’ll talk about how to stop looking for a job and start looking for a job.

So, does this feel familiar? You’re feeling exhausted from your job search. Have you spent hours browsing job sites, sending application after application, but getting nothing? It felt like shouting into a black hole. You’re not alone, it’s an exhausting cycle that can make anyone feel like a failure.

Look at this number. This is no exaggeration. Many people send out more than 800 applications just to get a job opportunity.

I mean, it’s a strategy based purely on numbers and hope. But what if I told you that job hunting isn’t really a numbers game at all? So, if you’re working really hard but aren’t seeing the results you want, I want to clarify a few things. The problem isn’t your talent.

That’s not your experience and it’s definitely not your work ethic. You don’t have to change who you are. You just need to change your approach.

This is our core idea. It’s all about a fundamental shift in who you are. So, you have to ask yourself, are you a passive job seeker, just hoping someone will choose you, or are you a proactive job seeker, actually taking charge? Trust me, this change in how you view yourself can absolutely change everything.

Let’s break it down. On one hand, you have job seekers. Sure, they felt busy, but they were also exhausted, completely stuck in an endless cycle of online applications.

But what about job seekers? They feel focused and in control. They know that simply applying online is a slow road, so they view interviews as a collaboration rather than some high-stakes test. The result? Well, job seekers may eventually find a job.

Shoppers? They often end up with multiple offers to choose from. That’s it. That’s the whole philosophy in a nutshell.

Job hunting is not about finding a company. It’s about positioning yourself so well that companies start chasing you. It’s about making yourself so valuable that you can choose the best opportunities.

So, how do we actually do this? Well, to be a job seeker, you have to know what you really want. Great things never happen by accident. Many people are so busy applying that they never take the time to really focus.

But you have to remember this. Clarity creates speed. This is a very useful tool that can help you achieve this goal.

This is called the Wealth Formula. It’s a simple yet incredibly powerful framework designed to help you understand what a truly satisfying career looks like. It’s all about making sure your next step is perfectly aligned with who you are.

5 tips for career branding to help you go further

The formula is therefore divided into three key parts. First, your values, the things that really matter deep down. Secondly, your strengths are what you are naturally good at.

Third, market demand, make sure the market really needs your skills. That sweet spot in the middle, where all three of these points intersect, is the sweet spot of your career. Well, once you have that clear, the next step is to completely change your strategy.

Instead of investing all your time and energy into these online recruitment portals, you need to turn your attention to the people. Let’s face it. Applying online is a slow way to go.

It’s basically like buying a lottery ticket and hoping for the best. But building real relationships, you know, networking, is the fastest way. This is the fast track to getting noticed and putting your resume on top.

This means you have to change your scorecard. Stop counting how many applications you send out. Instead, start counting how many meaningful conversations you have.

Each of these interactions is a big step forward, opening doors that online portals would never open. Okay, you’ve done the work, you’ve networked, and you’ve landed the interview. Now, this is where the candidate mentality really comes into play.

You are not here to be interrogated. You are here to collaborate. It’s time to shift your identity from candidate to consultant.

Seriously, think about your next interview. Are you going to walk into the room and test it? Or are you here to ask a business question? When you see yourself as an equal partner and help them solve their problems, the whole dynamic changes. The interviewer ceases to be a judge and becomes a potential colleague.

Advisors don’t just sit there and answer questions. They raise their own strategic questions. They don’t just talk about their past achievements.

They focus on how to solve the company’s future problems. I mean, imagine walking in and presenting a 90-day plan that shows you’re already thinking like a team member. You are no longer just a candidate.

You are a collaborator. All of this brings us to the most important takeaway from the entire approach. This is a fundamental career truth that will support you for the rest of your career.

Let’s understand this. The company owns your job. That job can be temporary.

It can change. It can disappear. But your career, the collection of skills, experiences and relationships you’ve built, is entirely yours.

Being a job seeker is about taking full control of your career destiny. It’s about building a career so powerful that you’re never at the mercy of a single job again.
