The Port of New Orleans (also known as Port Nora) is the sixth largest cruise ship in the United States. It’s a busy port that serves several cruise routes, but if you’re sailing from a live like Miami, its organization may feel less complicated. Nevertheless, more and more passengers use Port Nora every year, and the port’s capacity grows along with this population reality.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is not far from the hustle and bustle of the city’s central business district is next door, about 2 miles from the French Quarter.
The voyage from Port Nola is particularly memorable as you see the city curving along the Mississippi River, which itself leaves the network of debris on the swamp and refinery platforms downstream.
The river cruise along the Mississippi River also starts from New Orleans, not from the main terminal of Port Nora. American cruise ships set off from the Talia Street Pier, while Viking cruises set off from the Poydras Street Pier.

Port Nora Cruise Terminal Direction
If you’re driving from out of town to New Orleans, you’re almost certainly able to drive on Interstate 10, which may bring you close to Port Nora. Whether from I-10 east or west I-10, take the 234 exit to us 90 West. Starting from 90, export 11C to Tchoupitoulas Street. This is the pronunciation of “chop-uh-tool-us”; if locals give you instructions, they usually just call it “chopped.” Make sure you encounter this exit or you will cross the Mississippi River on the Crescent City Connection Bridge.
Once you exit 11C, follow the sign and turn right on the second burning light to Tchoupitoulas Street. You should start seeing the Cruise Port sign at this stage, but if you miss it, turn left on Henderson Street at the next stop light. Drive two blocks and turn left to the port of New Orleans Port. It’s hard to miss. Just remember that this is behind the rails.
The southern Erato Street cruise pier has just passed the bridge pier. The Julia Street cruise terminal is half a mile north of Erato.
Amtrak’s union passenger terminal is just over a mile west of 1001 Loyola St., and it’s about a 10-minute taxi or a ride from Amtrak to the port terminal, or if you don’t mind lifting it up with a bag.
Please note that the riverside tram line does extend to the Julia Street terminal. If you live in a hotel in the French Quarter, you might be worth taking this unique form of public transportation.
If you need hail taxi or car service after you get off the boat in New Orleans, walk along the footbridge at Julia Street Pier. The port itself always has a large number of taxis, Ubers and Lyfts, so hail in town is always easier.
Nora Port Cruise Port Parking
Both cruise docks have garages. Julia Street Pier (Norway and Royal Caribbean) offers Laz parking at 100 Poydras garage and has over 500 covered parking spaces. Find the entrance to Poydras Street on the Hilton-sur-New Orleans River. Parking is $30 per day and you need to book.
Please note that the maximum height of the vehicle in this garage is 6 feet, 4 inches and the maximum length of the vehicle is 22 feet.
Erato Street Pier (Carnival) is provided by Erato Street parking lot located at the top of the terminal. Price is $25 per day and you need to book. To enter, look for a circular ramp. There is room for 1,000 cars here; the maximum length is still 22 feet, but there is limited space for vehicles up to 8 feet and 4 inches, and up to 7 feet and 6 inches of vehicle space on the high floor.
There is SEACAP to provide luggage in both parking facilities.
Parks and tailoring
There are many private plots near Port Nora in New Orleans Central Business District. The Fulton Plaza parking lot (901 Convention Center Blvd.) is one of the most popular choices because it has room for oversized vehicles. It charges $17 per day ($15 not found) and recommends booking for a free shuttle for the cruise terminal from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Airports near Port Nora Cruise Port
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is 12 miles west of downtown New Orleans and is about 20 to 30 minutes’ drive, depending on traffic. The next nearest airport is Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR), which is 90 miles north.
MSY is a rather busy airport that handles about 13 million passengers a year, most of whom arrive at home, mainly from Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Denver and Orlando. The major airlines passing by MSY are American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines. BTR is mainly provided by American Eagle, Delta and United Express.
MSY near C1 Gate has a Delta Sky Club and a United Club near C7 Gate. Apart from these options, MSY Club is the priority for people passing through, which is a pretty good space.
How to get to NOLA Port Cruise Terminal from MSY
Usually, you can purchase transfers between the airport and the cruise terminal (or hotel) directly from the cruise route. Sometimes this is reserved for travelers who purchase tickets from cruise ships, but you or your travel agency can call to ask if you can buy Travers la la orders. For example, Carnival only offers a cruise transfer from MSY in one-way mode for $28 when boarding and disembarking. Private shuttle companies like Burton can also accommodate six passengers in SUVs for $175. Supershuttle can reach up to four passengers in the city and sells for around $75.
Taxi service from MSY to NOLA Port Cruise Terminal
One-way taxi from MSY to NOLA port is flat for $36, and $15 per person for three or more passengers. Uber or Lyft from MSY will usually make $40-50, but obviously these prices can swing wildly based on surge pricing; from BTR to BTR, you expect Uber or Lyft to be at least $150.
Public Transport from MSY to NOLA Port Cruise Terminal
Airport Express (Bus 202) arrives at Loyola and Howard Streets 13 times a day, just at the Alliance Passenger Terminal, a 10-minute drive from the port. The bus fee for a single trip is only $1.25, but remember that depending on transportation, it takes 40 to 50 minutes of travel time.

The access to the sidewalk wheelchairs takes up spots in certain places – certain curb cuttings that can be accessed by the wheelchairs require maintenance. A wheelchair is available, but you need to contact the cruise route in advance to ensure there are options that meet your needs.
Hotels near Port Nora Cruise Port
Bonvoy members will want to investigate the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District, as the name suggests, located in the transformed 19th-century warehouse, just across the street from the Convention Center and the port.
If you are part of the Hyatt loyalty program, the New Orleans/Conference Center at Hyatt Hotel is the same as the Harbor and River Mall, adjacent to the National World War II Museum.
Near the harbour, there are no shortage of Hilton Honor Hotels, all of which are family friendly. Among them on the budget side is the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center, on the more upscale side, the Hilton New Orleans Riverfront, which offers shuttle transportation to the Cruise Terminal.

Restaurants near Port Nora Postal Port
New Orleans is known for its vibrant dining scene and there are plenty of great restaurants in the town. The best terminals for port terminals are often white plate business, or at least priced within the white traffic jam budget. Braces like Cochon and Herbaint are within walking distance of the port, but if you really want to immerse yourself in the city’s enviable food culture, we recommend taking a taxi from the CBD.
You will find many great restaurant lined magazine streets that run through the lower garden area, garden area and residential area. On the other hand, in communities like Faubourg Marigny and Bywater, it is easier to find trendy community restaurants and bars that define the New Orleans experience, especially near Louisa Street and Franklin Avenue.
If you want a dining experience that’s both old New Orleans and is pretty stylish, stroll to the French Quarter and stick to streets like Royal, Chartre or Decatur.

Shopping near Port Nora Cruise
If you need last minute cruise supply, the cruise port is located near Riverside Street, near the available shopping centers at Port 500 New Orleans Port 500, and is only a few blocks (actually a five-minute walk from the terminal) (although the mall is large, so the walk may take longer). Canal Plaza Shopping Center is where you can get to more high-end merchandise; about 20 minutes from the terminal, or soon taxi. The Prytania Theatre here is a lovely cinema and a great place to kill time.
