- Reward flight discount: Receive reward redemption for Delta flights (use this card to pay taxes and fees).
- Companion Certificate: Use this certificate to take someone to your next round trip flight on Delta. This is beneficial for the main cabin round trip flights that renew the card every year and is effective for all trips to 50 U.S. states, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
- Free upgrade: Free seating upgrades on qualified flights after the Medal members are card members who are not Medal members.
- Free check bag: When flying the Delta, you and up to eight travelers with the same booking will get your first check bag for free. Even if you travel alone, the regular price for each direction will be $35 per bag in each direction, which saves you at least $70 per round trip flight, where you will check a bag.
- Medal Qualification Dollar Gate: Get 2,500 MQDs automatically deposited in each calendar year.
- MQD Boost: Earn 1 MQD for every $20.
- Delta keeps credit: Annual statement credits up to $200 per calendar year on Delta Hotel Travel Portal Delta Stays.

Earn miles on Delta Platinum Business Amex
With Delta Platinum Business Amex, you will earn 3 miles directly from hotels and qualified Delta purchases worldwide, including reservations, Delta vacation packages, seating upgrades and options, Delta Sky Club membership or pass, pre-buyed and converted meals, easy-to-buy beverages, but alcoholic beverages and audio audio headsets (but not WI-FI).
Additionally, you will receive 1.5 miles of purchases per dollar for shipping, eligible U.S. shipping and eligible purchases over $5,000 (spending up to $100,000 per year, 1 mile per dollar thereafter). You will spend 1 mile on all other qualified purchases.
According to TPG’s valuation, this revenue structure may be good if your business is frequently making large purchases, but according to TPG’s June 2025 valuation, it is equivalent to spending gains of 3.75%, 1.87%, and 1.25%, respectively, because it does not provide the best gains.

Redemption miles on Delta Platinum Business Amex
Your best choice is almost always to redeem Skymiles for airplane travel. Not only do you have mileage on Delta, but it’s also great at Delta’s other Skyteam Airline Partners and non-business operators like Westjet.
It does take extra work to find a bargain for the Delta, as it doesn’t post reward charts (and periodically adjust prices on many routes), but they’re there. Check out Delta’s Skymiles transaction page for discounts on Delta between round-trip tickets for economy class and specific city pairs.
Seat upgrades are also an option, but there is no rewards list, so you don’t know how many miles it will cost before booking your ticket. (Usually not a good value.)
You can also use mileage for upgrades on flights operated by partners France-klm, Virgin Atlantic and Aerome tocixo, but know you are not getting the best value for them.
Select this option only if you do need to do a longer flight upgrade – for example Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) via Europe in France or KLM to Johannesburg or Tambo International Airport (JNB) – you want to save cash.
Since Delta Skymiles Platinum Business Amex does not come with Delta Sky Club Airport Lounge membership, you can also redeem Skymiles, although frankly, it brings you horrible value.
You can also transfer, gift or donate your miles to charities. But again, redeeming miles on Delta and partner flights will often give you the best value.
TPG Senior Editorial Director Nick Ewen redeems his Delta Skymiles for domestic travel, helping with amazing scores.

Which cards compete with Amex, the Delta Platinum business?
If you are looking for low annual fees or access to the airport lounge, some other cards may be more appropriate.
- If you want a lower annual fee delta privilege: The DeltaSkymiles® Gold Business American Express card is a great choice to get Delta Perks, but the annual fee is low ($0 for the first year, see Fees and Fees). You can still earn reward miles on Delta, U.S. shipping and U.S. advertising purchases. And, after you spend $10,000 on calendar year and free check bags, you will still get the privilege of the Delta. To learn more, check out our full review of Delta Skymiles Gold Business Amex.
- If you want Delta Sky Club access: The DeltaSkymiles® Reserve Business American Express card has a higher annual fee of $650 (see rates and fees), but comes with lounge access (with restrictions). You will also receive a statement credit such as a companion certificate of the year, a free check bag and a global admission ticket or a TSA Precheck ($120 per four years for global admission and up to $85 per 4 1/2 years for TSA Precheck). To learn more, check out our full review of Delta Skymiles Reserve Business Amex.
- If you want a card with more flexible rewards: BusinessPlatinumCard® from American Express offers excellent travel benefits and earn rewards that you can transfer to Delta as well as other travel partners in American Express. It offers a full lounge for qualified card members, but the annual fee is $695 (see rates and fees). To learn more, check out our full review of Amex Business Platinum.

Is Amex worth it in Delta Platinum Business?
This card is great if you want Delta Perks, such as a companion certificate of the year and a free shipping bag. This is also good for earning bonus miles on Delta flights and business-related purchases. However, if you are often not enough to maximize the benefit value of the card, the annual fee may be difficult to justify. It’s also hard to ignore any type of lounge access, which may be the main reason for whether the card is worth it.
Bottom line
If you are loyal to Skyteam Carrier and prefer to have airline privileges, the Delta Skymiles Platinum Business American Express card is a reliable option. If you use earning bonus MQD to help you reach Elite Medal status, and you can also use the annual peer certificate, its annual fee is worth it.
